Movement as Medicine

Running Medicine is based on the understanding that running and exercise is a beautiful and potent medicine for mind, body, and spirit.

Running Medicine is a program of
Native Health Initiative

What is Running Medicine?

01

A Community Movement Group

Running Medicine was formed in 2016 as a program of Native Health Initiative. We brought together a community to launch a program based on family, having fun and being inclusive of all ages, abilities and fitness levels. The group founders wanted to have a low-cost, family-oriented running/walking program that invoked the idea that running is indeed a medicine for mind, body and spirit. As Native Health Initiative strives to build cultures of wellness in Native communities, Running Medicine has become a critical component in helping lessen the burden of chronic disease that disproportionally affects Indigenous populations.

USATF Youth Cross Country Track + Field

Running Medicine is based on the understanding that running and exercise are beautiful and potent medicines for mind, body, and spirit for all ages! Youth coaches & parents work together to create a learning atmosphere so athletes excel in sportsmanship, hard work, teamwork, and FUN. Parents are encouraged to run/walk with their athlete as experienced coaches provide workouts to assist youth in learning about the fundamentals of running.
